Steadfast Backup Privacy Policy

Effective October 29, 2026

This policy explains how the Steadfast Backup WordPress plugin, made by Geek By Choice, handles information, including information it receives from Google when you connect Google Drive. It covers only the Steadfast Backup plugin and its Google sign-in, not other pages, stores or services on geekbychoice.com.

Runs on your site

Geek By Choice runs no server for the plugin and receives none of your data.

Only its own files

In Google Drive, the plugin can reach only the files it creates.

Tokens stay with you

Sign-in tokens are encrypted in your site's database and sent only to Google.

Backups only

Never sold, shared, used for ads or used to train AI.

1Where the plugin runs

Steadfast Backup is software you install on your own WordPress site. Backups are made on your web server and kept there and in the storage locations you add. Your backups, settings, passwords and sign-in tokens stay on your site and in your own storage accounts. None of it is sent to Geek By Choice, and Geek By Choice has no way to access it.

The plugin collects no usage statistics or analytics, and it has no accounts or licenses to check.

2Google user data

When you add Google Drive as a storage location, you sign in to Google and approve access. Steadfast Backup requests only one permission, https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file, which lets an app see, create, change and delete only the files that app created or that you opened with it.

What it accesses

  • The backup files and folder it creates in your Drive, with their names, sizes and dates.
  • The sign-in tokens Google issues so backups keep uploading without signing in each time.

What it never accesses

Your other Drive files, your email, your contacts or your Google profile.

How it is used

Only to upload backups, list the backups in your Drive so you can restore or sync them, download a backup when you restore it, and delete old backups under the retention rules you choose.

How it is stored

Tokens are stored in your own WordPress database, encrypted with a key that belongs to your site. Backup files are stored in your own Google Drive. Geek By Choice stores no Google user data.

How it is shared

Google user data is not shared with, sold to or transferred to anyone. For Google Drive, the plugin connects only from your site to Google: accounts.google.com and oauth2.googleapis.com for sign-in, and www.googleapis.com for your backup files. No person at Geek By Choice can read your Google user data, and it is not used for advertising, for building user profiles, or to develop, improve or train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

Steadfast Backup's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

3Removing access

  1. On the plugin's Storage page, remove the Google Drive storage location. This deletes the stored tokens from your site.
  2. To revoke access in your Google account as well, open myaccount.google.com/connections, choose Steadfast Backup and remove its access.

Backups already in your Drive stay there until you delete them. Uninstalling the plugin also deletes its settings and tokens from your site.

4Other storage services

If you add another storage location, the plugin connects to that service only to send, list, download or delete your backup files there. Each service handles your files under its own terms and privacy policy.

DropboxSign-in tokens and backup files go to Dropbox.Dropbox Privacy Policy
Microsoft OneDriveSign-in tokens and backup files go to Microsoft.Microsoft Privacy Statement
pCloudSign-in tokens and backup files go to pCloud.pCloud Privacy Policy
Amazon S3 and S3-compatibleBackup files, signed with your access keys, go to the endpoint you enter.AWS Privacy Notice
FTP, FTPS and SFTPBackup files go only to the server address you enter.
WebDAV and NextcloudBackup files go only to the server address you enter.

Passwords and keys for these services are stored encrypted in your own site's database.

5Email and webhook alerts

Email notifications are sent by your own site to the addresses you enter.

Webhook alerts are off by default. If you enter a webhook address, a short message is sent there when a job finishes, with your site's name and address, the job type and result, the backup file name and size, and any error message.

6Promo card and problem reports

The plugin's Dashboard shows a card about other Geek By Choice software. Its text and images are packaged inside the plugin and load from your own site, so it makes no outside connection and shares nothing.

The Report a problem button opens a new message in your own email app. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it. If you do, Geek By Choice receives only what you include, uses it only to answer you and fix the problem, and does not share it.

7Children

Steadfast Backup is a tool for website administrators. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

8Changes to this policy

If the way the plugin handles information changes, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change. Changes that affect Google user data will be made before the plugin uses that data in a new way.
